Many individual photos are taken by the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), such as the one shown here. They are stitched together and returned as an orthomosaic in British National Grid projection. The stitching process also eliminates the effect of perspective that can be seen in the photo.
The stitched imagery can then be loaded onto GIS software and used to create a species shapefile.
The species shapefile can be complemented with an on foot volume survey if required.
