Many individual photos are taken by the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), such as the one shown here. They are stitched together and returned as an orthomosaic in British National Grid projection.
There are 3 types of ground preparation used on this nearly 300ha site: ploughing, mounding and chemical screefing. Each can be seen clearly and mapped from the orthomosaic.
A ground preparation shapefile can then be produced. This is especially useful for getting a measure of ground preparation done for accurate payment to contractors and maintenance planning.
In addition to the orthomosaic, 10m contours can be provided.
